'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues contest with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the nail-biting closing stages of Swansea's epic comeback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. That match ended with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses following the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful shot from 25 yards, and the defender promptly slammed home the rebound before racing off toward the crowd to mark the goal, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result sealed an unbelievable recovery given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 deep into the final 45 minutes. Amid the delirium, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan trying to get our attention and Josh Key and I were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory booked a fourth-round match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with his former club in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's volley from about long distance going in via the woodwork and the Stefan Ortega. It feels criminal that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that range," stated Galbraith, who began the game centrally before shifting to right defensive wing after they changed formation. That meant facing off against Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the player was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way his former team attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they are adept at dictate and neutralize a game. You can believe you're doing well and then abruptly they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on every second of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and concentration just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

The club were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He made a name as a popular figure across two seasons at his former club and has quickly done the same in south Wales. At his previous team he reunited with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at his loan club from Manchester United. Then came a spell at lower division the Manchester club, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into senior level. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without real physicality. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that growth for club and country, shining for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including both legs encounters against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

This represents an incredible journey for the youngster from the local area in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his father, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

The player's sole appearance for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they competed on an synthetic surface and the venue ceiling was sealed owing to temperatures of freezing cold. "This represented a long trip and it was chilly," he comments, grinning. "The preceding week, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was unbelievable."

Moving On

How hard was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged his mid-teens? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I understood I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it got to the point where I believed I had to take a different path, move to a lower level and play men's football. Now I'm gradually working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

It is the early part of the afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has somewhere to be at late afternoon: a road rules assessment, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed fun bus, a minibus driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself a teammate, another squad member, Malick Yalcouyé – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to spend time with the guys but I'm hoping to be the subsequent individual to drive independently and on the road. His teammate enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Public Engagement

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would mix with fans on the Tube after beginning his trip at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
