Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise started the story’s plot—used the foes for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the group enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the traitor.
